The early blu-ray players would take well over a minute after powering on to be ready to go. That would be a shame, because one of the glorious things about Blu-ray is its high-end, lossless audio. The deep recess means you won’t have a USB stick protruding too far from the back of your player, but since the player is already quite shallow and there will already be cables connected to the back, we can’t see it being much of an advantage.
